Getting here
As you will see, the three maps below will inform you where we are, firstly in relation to the European map, secondly, finding us, say from Malaga or Granada airport and thirdly, when reaching the Orgiva area. Unfortunately our small road is not on the map. Below the maps are directions in large type to help you find us, from Malaga and Granada airports, which you can download.

Leaving Malaga airport . . . first follow sign for Malaga, short distance up the road, round-about, straight over and into the left of the two lanes.
Short distance and you’ll be turning right (up & over) still signposted for Malaga - NOT CADIZ - or you’ll get swallowed up by a maze of roads with few signs!!!).
About one mile / 1 1/2 kilometres and AFTER the sign for Almeria or Motril E15 and/or N340, you turn right again (up & over again) and on to another motorway.
From then on you are travelling straight ahead for over an hour towards Motril /Almeria E15 and/or N340. Ignore signs that tell you the distance is INCREASING as you progress towards Motril, this is Spain !!!!
Just to let you know there are no service areas immediately adjacent to this motorway. Generally speaking signs indicating food, toilets, petrol, etc., mean that such services are distributed in the nearby township !!! If you need to buy food and it’s late in the day, come off at exit 272 (about 1/2 an hour from the airport) and navigate over to the EROSKI supermarket. Leave the autovia, turn right at first roundabout and turn 360 degrees at the next. If you have enough time it’s much easier to shop in Almunecar. Turn right at the second traffic lights and immediately left and then left again as soon as possible, to park under the trees. Opposite there are three supermarkets, the middle one is Lidl, but probably the best is the one to the left called Mercadona. Orgiva shops are closed on Sundays.
Eventually you pass through Nerja, Almunecar and Salobrena.
Approximately half way along your journey, between Nerja and Almunecar, is a delightful little seaside resort, named La Herradura, where you can stop off for a rest and/or refreshment in a nice little restaurant on the beach. At the traffic lights turn off right and gently coast down the 150 yards/metres to the beach road. Turn right, travel some 50 yards /metres or so and park and eat on the beach and simply enjoy.
Soon after Salobrena (& before reaching Motril), fork off right down a slipway, following sign for Granada, then immediately turn left on a round-about and proceed straight towards the mountains (following sign for Granada).
The road rises only very slightly for some 10 minutes. Eventually you’ll be driving between high mountains; after a while you pass the first turning right for Velez Benaudalla.
Fairly soon afterwards - keep in the slow lane going up a slight slope and ahead on your right is a bridge at right angles to you. You may also see a ‘Restaurant Frenazo’ on the right.
Take this next right turn ( the 2nd turning for Velez Benaudalla), over the bridge and then turn left at the T junction in front of the first signpost for Orgiva.
(Should you miss this 2nd turning and reach a point where the main road becomes motorway (autovia) again, either turn round at the first opportunity, or take the next right into Lanjarron and straight down through the town to Orgiva. This is a very windy road around the mountains and will add approximately 20 minutes to your journey).
But, assuming you’re on the right road, continue on that road, in and out around the mountains (passing the building work for the new motorway connection), for about 15 minutes until you reach a tunnel, turn left immediately after it and up into Orgiva.
Please drive very carefully in the small township of Orgiva, people here do not necessarily drive as you might expect. Additionally, practically all motorcyclists ignore the traffic lights. Just take our word for it !!
* At the second set of traffic lights (neither set may be working !!) turn right (left coming from Granada) (opposite the DIA autosupermercado), uphill into a narrow street, then take the right bend and travel for several hundred metres/yards, passing a school on your left, until you reach a cross-roads where you slope off down to the right !!
Continue for a good mile /two kilometres, until you twist and turn into a deep gully. At the bottom (over a very short strip of cemented road), immediately you come off left and in front of you are three post boxes, the first of which is white. Drive past in first gear and turn right steeply up the short track, taking care not to spin your wheels. At the top turn a 90 degree angle left, pass white posts along the straight drive and eventually (just past a yellow wall) into gateway with big wooden doors, and welcome to Cortijo de la Luz and the Casita in which you have come to enjoy yourselves (any time after 4pm (16.00) please).
For those not confident about taking the short steep slope, drive along the road for another 400-500 yards/metres, turn back at the next track entrance. After the second tight bend in the road fork right up the next track, then turn right at the next opportunity, passing the white posts.
* Out of Granada airport bear right following signs for Granada/Santa Fe ( food shops in Orgiva close by 8pm (20.00). Then straight along the dual carriageway. After about 10 minutes, at the first opportunity, turn right onto the motorway E902 signposted Motril. After some 20 minutes turn off for Lanjaron. Drive through Lanjaron, following signs for Orgiva. Drive into Orgiva and turn right at the first traffic lights and left at the second traffic lights (opposite the DIA (auto)supermercado). Then refer to the * above for further directions.
